Monthly Travel Guide

Thailand in March

March marks the transition toward hot season. Temperatures climb sharply across Central and Northern Thailand, and haze from agricultural burning peaks in the North. The Andaman coast remains excellent, and the Gulf coast is still largely clear. It is the last comfortable month for trekking in the North before the heat becomes oppressive. Koh Tao and Koh Phangan offer great diving and party conditions.

Weather by Region

North (Chiang Mai)

South — Gulf Coast

Warm and mostly dry. Koh Samui and Koh Phangan enjoy good conditions. Water temperature around 29°C.

South — Andaman Coast

Still in dry season but winds begin to pick up toward the end of March. Good conditions continue for Phuket, Krabi, and the Similans.
