Thailand in July

July falls in the heart of the low season for the Andaman coast but remains a popular month due to European and American school holidays. The Gulf coast is still Thailand's best weather bet, with warm and relatively dry conditions. Northern Thailand is lush and green. Expect sporadic but intense rain on the Andaman side; the Gulf coast can start seeing some showers but generally stays manageable. Khao Phansa (Buddhist Lent) begins in July.

Weather by Region

North (Chiang Mai)

Rainy and lush. Chiang Mai 24–32°C with frequent afternoon rain. Rivers are flowing, waterfalls dramatic, rice paddies filled.

Central (Bangkok)

Wet season continues. Bangkok experiences regular rain but it rarely disrupts a full day of activities. Temperatures 27–33°C.

South — Gulf Coast

Mostly dry with some afternoon showers beginning to appear. Koh Samui and Koh Phangan remain the best beach options in Thailand.

South — Andaman Coast

Heavy monsoon rain continues. Seas remain rough with frequent red-flag closures. Some Phuket operators run limited tours on calm morning windows.
