Thailand in June

June is solidly low season for the Andaman coast and Central Thailand, with the southwest monsoon in full effect. The Gulf coast continues to provide a relatively dry haven, though some showers begin appearing. Northern Thailand sees regular rain but with spectacular green landscapes and far fewer tourists. Prices are at their lowest across popular Andaman resorts, and accommodation quality-to-price ratios are excellent for travellers who don't mind occasional rain.

Weather by Region

North (Chiang Mai)

Warm and rainy. Chiang Mai averages 25–34°C with regular afternoon rain. Waterfalls are at their most impressive and the countryside is vivid green.

Central (Bangkok)

Rainy season. Bangkok sees daily afternoon showers. Temperatures 27–34°C. Flash flooding is possible in low-lying areas.

South — Gulf Coast

Mostly dry with increasing afternoon showers. Koh Samui water temperature peaks around 30°C. Still a good beach destination.

South — Andaman Coast

Full monsoon. Phuket, Krabi, Koh Lanta see heavy rain and rough seas. Many tourist businesses close or reduce hours. Red flag warnings frequent on beaches.
