Haad Rin by day looks nothing like Haad Rin on a Full Moon Party night, and it's worth seeing it that way first — quiet, ordinary, easy to misjudge from photos alone. The waterfall and the hammock option are both low-key enough that this day can flex however you're feeling.

Whether this day is a Full Moon Party night or a quiet hike out to Hat Thian depends entirely on the lunar calendar and where it falls against your dates — the itinerary can't decide that for you, only offer both versions. The two-hour crossing to Koh Tao is longer than yesterday's options within Phangan, and it's worth using the crossing itself to think through which dive shop and course level you actually want, since the booking and briefing happen almost as soon as you land.

Starting a PADI course and doing fun dives are very different days wearing the same title — a first certification day involves classroom time as well as water time, while fun dives at Chumphon Pinnacle or Sail Rock are more straightforwardly about being underwater. After a demanding dive day, snorkelling at Shark Bay is a gentler way to still be in the water, and the blacktip reef sharks there are genuinely more nervous of you than the name suggests. Freedom Beach or Aow Leuk in the afternoon is unstructured time before Sairee's sunset closes the island-hopping portion of the trip.

Leaving Koh Tao means a ferry back to the mainland before any onward flight or bus even becomes possible, so the crossing itself is the fixed point of the day rather than the beach time beforehand. Whether you route via Chumphon or Surat Thani depends on where you're actually headed next.
