Airport Rail Link Details
The ARL runs from the basement of Suvarnabhumi Airport and has two service types. The City Line (SA City) stops at all eight stations and takes 30 minutes to reach Phaya Thai at 45 THB. The Express (SA Express) is nonstop to Makkasan and Phaya Thai in 30 minutes for 150 THB. Both services run every 10–15 minutes, 6am to midnight.
At Phaya Thai station you can transfer to the BTS Skytrain (any BTS card or token). At Makkasan you connect to the MRT (Purple/Blue line interchange). This makes most central Bangkok hotels reachable by rail with one or two transfers.

Change some cash before exiting arrivals — there are SuperRich exchange booths in the arrivals hall with decent rates. ATMs are plentiful but charge 220 THB per withdrawal. Have at least 500 THB in cash for expressway tolls and taxi if you plan to use a metered cab.
For late-night or early-morning arrivals, a pre-booked private transfer or Grab is more predictable than hunting for a taxi in an empty queue. If travelling with a family or significant luggage, the taxi or private transfer will be more comfortable than managing the Rail Link with bags.
