Thailand is a genuinely welcoming destination for travellers with babies and toddlers. Thais adore children and the cultural warmth toward young families is immediately evident. With a little planning around what to bring versus what to buy locally, travelling with a baby or toddler is much less daunting than many first-time parents expect. What to bring from home: your trusted formula if your baby is formula-fed (Thai formula is widely available but may differ from what your baby is used to); nappy rash cream and any specialist skin products; infant paracetamol/ibuprofen in the correct formulation; any prescription medications. What is easily available in Thailand: nappies (diapers) — major brands including Pampers, Huggies, and local brand Mamy Poko available at all 7-Elevens and pharmacies; prices comparable to or cheaper than home. Baby wipes — widely available and cheap. Formula — extensive range of imported and Thai brands at all supermarkets. Baby food pouches and jars — available at Tops Supermarket, Big C, Lotus, and Gourmet Market Bangkok. Baby sun cream SPF50+ — available at Boots (widespread in tourist areas) and Watson's pharmacies. Mosquito repellent for children — DEET-free options at pharmacies; picaridin-based options are considered safest for infants under 2 months. Sterilising equipment — available at Boots, pharmacies, and baby shops. Buggy/stroller notes: Bangkok's pavements are notoriously inconsistent — cracked, blocked by parked motorbikes, and full of uneven curbs. A lightweight, easily foldable stroller or a baby carrier is strongly recommended. Malls and modern hotels are pushchair-friendly; old cities like Chiang Mai's moat area less so. Cooling: keep babies out of direct sun between 11am–3pm; heat and humidity are intense. Lightweight cotton clothing and a portable fan/misting bottle are useful. Baby-friendly accommodation: most hotels can provide a cot (baby bed) on request at no extra charge; always confirm when booking.
