Huay Mae Khamin is widely regarded as Kanchanaburi's most beautiful waterfall, a wide multi-tiered cascade set deep inside Sri Nakarin National Park on the border of Kanchanaburi and Suphan Buri provinces. The water flows over broad limestone shelves into pools so clear they appear lit from below, and the remoteness of the location means visitor numbers stay low even during peak season. The approach through forested hills along the reservoir edge is itself a scenic reward.
Highlights
- Seven tiers of wide limestone-shelf pools with exceptionally clear water
- Far fewer visitors than Erawan despite comparable beauty
- Pristine jungle setting inside Sri Nakarin National Park
- Camping facilities available for overnight stays near the falls
How to Get There
From Kanchanaburi, head northwest via Highway 3199 toward Sri Nakarin Dam. The total journey is about 90 km and takes 2–2.5 hours. Renting a motorbike in Kanchanaburi town is the most flexible option.
Visitor Tips
The road to the falls is unpaved for the final stretch — a motorbike or 4WD is preferable to a low-clearance car.
Bring food and water as there are minimal facilities at the falls themselves.
Combine with a boat trip on Khao Laem Reservoir for a full day in the area.
