Rooftop Bars with Views
Sky Bar at Lebuaon Silom (63rd floor of State Tower) is Bangkok's most famous rooftop — the circular bar appears to float over the city with 360-degree views. Filmed for The Hangover Part II, it has a permanent place in pop culture. Smart casual dress code is enforced. The signature Hangovertini cocktail costs 500 THB. Sunset is spectacular here.
Vertigo and Moon Bar at Banyan Tree (61st floor, Sathorn) offers arguably better views than Lebua from a slightly different angle — the Moon Bar is open-air with a 270-degree panorama across the city. Cocktails are 450–600 THB. The outdoor setting means visibility is excellent. Dress code is smart casual.
Octave Rooftop Bar at the Marriott Sukhumvit (floors 45–49) is more accessible in price and dress code while still delivering excellent views over Sukhumvit and beyond. The three-level structure means you can move between different perspectives. Good cocktails and a young, lively atmosphere. No reservation required for walk-ins on weekdays.
Observation Decks
King Power Mahanakhon Skywalkat Chong Nonsi BTS is Bangkok's highest public observation point — the 78th floor glass-floored SkyWalk extends over the pixelated exterior of the distinctive Mahanakhon Tower. The glass floor section is not for those with vertigo but the views in all directions are extraordinary. At 314 metres, you're looking down on every other rooftop bar in the city. Tickets 880 THB, sunset tickets sell out.
Baiyoke Tower IIon Pratunam (77th floor rotating deck) was Bangkok's tallest building before the modern supertall era. The observation deck and revolving restaurant are now less fashionable but offer all-direction city views at a slightly lower price point than Mahanakhon. The rotating mechanism gives a slow, comprehensive panorama over 15–20 minutes.

River and Bridge Views
The Chao Phraya Riveris Bangkok's great artery and viewing the city from the water is as compelling as viewing it from above. The Chao Phraya Express Boat from Sathorn Pier (Saphan Taksin BTS) to Phra Athit in the old town passes under ornate bridges, alongside the Grand Palace walls, and through working river life that persists despite the city's modernisation.
The riverside promenade at Asiatique The Riverfront on the west bank offers atmospheric sunset views over the river to Bangkok's skyline in the east. Free to access, with a Ferris wheel providing elevated views for 200 THB. The riverside development at Iconsiamon the Thonburi side gives similarly impressive views back over Bangkok's towers reflected in the river.
