Asiatique The Riverfront

Bangkok's most atmospheric night market: warehouses, Ferris wheel, and riverside dining

  3. Asiatique The Riverfront

Asiatique The Riverfront occupies the site of a former 19th-century East Asiatic Company trading wharf on the Chao Phraya River in Charoen Krung, Bangkok's oldest commercial district. The development converted the original brick warehouses into a stylish open-air shopping and dining complex with over 1,500 stalls and shops, a giant Ferris wheel visible from the river, nightly cabaret shows, and a strong craft food and cocktail scene. It operates only in the evening and is one of the most pleasant ways to spend a Bangkok night.

Highlights

  • 1,500+ shops in atmospheric converted 19th-century warehouses
  • Giant Ferris wheel with views over the Chao Phraya
  • Strong restaurant and bar scene on the riverside terrace
  • Nightly Muay Thai shows and Calypso cabaret performances

How to Get There

BTS to Saphan Taksin, then the free Asiatique shuttle ferry from Central Pier (approximately every 30 minutes from 5 pm). Alternatively, Grab or taxi to Charoen Krung Road — journey time from central Sukhumvit is 25–40 minutes.

Visitor Tips

1.

Take the free Asiatique shuttle boat from Saphan Taksin BTS pier (Central Pier) — it runs every 30 minutes and is faster than a taxi in the evening.

2.

The riverside restaurant terrace has the best atmosphere but books up — walk in before 7 pm or have a backup plan.

3.

Prices at Asiatique are tourist-facing — street food lovers will prefer Chinatown's Yaowarat Road for value.
