Minivan

฿150–200
Duration3–4 hours
Frequency6+ daily departures from 8am

The most popular option. Minivans depart from Chiang Mai Arcade Bus Terminal and the Pratu Chiang Mai area. The 762 curves through the mountains are legendary — sit in the middle seats if prone to motion sickness.

Local Bus (Aya Service)

฿80–150
Duration3.5–4 hours
FrequencySeveral daily from Chiang Mai Arcade

Slightly slower than a minivan but cheaper. Larger vehicle means less dramatic motion on the bends. Arrives at Pai Bus Station near the Walking Street.

Motorbike (Route 1095)

฿200–400 (rental) + fuel
Duration2.5–3 hours
FrequencySelf-drive any time

The scenic Route 1095 is one of Thailand's great motorbike rides. 762 bends through forested mountains. Only recommended for experienced riders — narrow road, steep drops, and truck traffic.

Tips & Things to Know

  • 1

Book minivan seats the day before in high season (November–February) as they sell out quickly.

  • 2

Take ginger sweets or motion sickness tablets — the mountain road has 762 curves and many passengers feel queasy.
