About Suphan Buri Province
Suphan Buri is a historic central-plains province roughly 100 km northwest of Bangkok, long associated with Thai rice farming, folk music, and the 16th-century Battle of Nong Sarai where King Naresuan defeated the Burmese crown prince in elephant combat. Today it draws domestic visitors for its Don Chedi monument marking that battle, a sprawling buffalo conservation village, the freshwater Bueng Chawak aquarium, and several large modern temples. The countryside is classic flat rice-bowl Thailand.
