About Saraburi Province
Saraburi is a central province best known for two things: it is Thailand's most important centre for Buddhist pilgrimage at Phra Phutthabat (the Footprint of the Buddha shrine) — which draws tens of thousands of pilgrims annually — and it is home to the Muak Lek and Khao Yai highlands that transition into the northeastern plateau. The province functions primarily as a transit zone between Bangkok and the northeast or Khao Yai. Lopburi, Ayutthaya, and Khao Yai are all within comfortable reach. The Saraburi sunflower fields, which bloom from November to January, are a popular photography destination for Thai tourists.
