About Samut Prakan Province
Samut Prakan lies at the mouth of the Chao Phraya River where it meets the Gulf of Thailand, and is effectively Bangkok's southeastern urban extension. The province is best known for two attractions: the Ancient City (Mueang Boran), a massive open-air museum containing scaled replicas of Thailand's greatest architectural monuments spread across 80 hectares; and the Crocodile Farm and Zoo, one of the world's largest. It is also the location of Suvarnabhumi Airport, making it a transit hub for millions. The Bang Pu area hosts large flocks of migrating seabirds in winter, drawing birdwatchers from across the region.
