About Sakon Nakhon Province
Sakon Nakhon is a culturally rich Isaan province built around Nong Han, one of the largest natural lakes in Thailand, and the Phu Phan mountains to the south. It is closely associated with the Thai Forest Tradition, having been home to revered masters such as Ajahn Mun and Ajahn Fan, whose monasteries and museums remain important pilgrimage sites. The province is also the heartland of natural indigo (mor hom) dyeing, with weaving villages producing the deep blue cotton seen across Isaan.
