About Kamphaeng Phet Province
Kamphaeng Phet, whose name means 'Diamond Wall', is a historic province on the upper central plains that once formed a fortified outpost of the Sukhothai Kingdom. Its old city, with substantial laterite walls, Buddha images, and forest-bound chedis, is inscribed alongside Sukhothai and Si Satchanalai as a UNESCO World Heritage site. Beyond the ruins, the province extends west into rugged forested ranges with Khlong Lan National Park and several Hmong and Karen villages.
