About Chumphon Province
Chumphon sits at the narrow neck of the Thai peninsula where the Gulf of Thailand and Andaman coasts nearly converge, making it a genuine crossroads province. For travellers, it is best known as the mainland ferry departure point for Koh Tao (2 hours by high-speed catamaran) — but those who stop discover a pleasant seafront city, some excellent diving from the mainland at Koh Ngam and Koh Thalu, and a coastline largely untouched by mass tourism. Chumphon's calm inshore waters and coral-covered rocks make it an accessible dive and snorkel destination without the island price premium.
