About Chai Nat Province
Chai Nat is a quiet central province at the point where the Chao Phraya River branches into its main delta distributaries, making it a critical node in Thailand's central irrigation network. The Chai Nat Dam — a major concrete weir built in the 1950s as part of the Greater Chao Phraya project — controls water distribution for millions of acres of rice fields. The province is best known for its bird park (Chai Nat Bird Park), one of Thailand's largest aviaries with over 200 species, and the nearby Chainat Muni National Museum. The province is also a centre for traditional woven fabric production.
