Koh Chang's family sweet spot — calm water, views to offshore islands, and good value resorts

About Kai Bae Beach
Kai Bae Beach occupies a middle position on Koh Chang's west coast, both geographically (between the busy White Sand Beach to the north and the backpacker Lonely Beach to the south) and in character. It is noticeably quieter than White Sand Beach, maintains a more genuine beach resort atmosphere than Lonely Beach, and has the island's best view — the Koh Man Nai and Koh Man Nok islets sit directly offshore, their green shapes reflected in the typically calm water that makes the beach unusually photogenic.
The beach is divided into two sections by a small rocky headland — northern Kai Bae tends to have slightly better sand and more development; southern Kai Bae is quieter. The water is shallower than White Sand Beach, making it excellent for children and casual swimmers. Several comfortable mid-range resorts have established themselves here, offering pool access and beachside dining at prices meaningfully below comparable White Sand Beach properties.
Kai Bae is the right base for visitors who want beach-resort quality without peak-season crowds. The main road behind the beach has restaurants, minimarkets, and tour operators, and the songthaew running the length of the west coast connects to White Sand Beach in 15 minutes. For those renting motorbikes, Kai Bae is a good central launch point for day trips to Klong Plu Waterfall (30 minutes north) and Bang Bao (25 minutes south).
