Thailand in December

December is Thailand's most popular travel month — and for good reason. The cool season covers most of the country, the southwest coast is in its dry-season prime, and Christmas and New Year add an extra layer of celebration to the usual festive atmosphere. It is peak season with peak prices, but the conditions are excellent.

Weather in Thailand in December

North and Central Thailand (Bangkok, Chiang Mai): cool and dry — excellent sightseeing weather. Southwest coast (Phuket, Krabi, Koh Lanta): prime dry season, calm Andaman seas. Gulf coast (Koh Samui): transitional — some early December rain possible, clearing toward month end. East coast (Koh Chang): can be wet in early December.
