Patong Beach
Phuket's busiest beach — 3 km of sand backed by the island's main entertainment strip. Great facilities, consistent surf, and easy access to everything.
Swim between the red-and-yellow flags. Rip currents form at the ends of the beach. Avoid weekends if you prefer space.
Kata Noi Beach
A small, sheltered cove that regularly ranks among Thailand's most beautiful beaches. Calm water in dry season, good snorkelling off the rocks.
Extremely popular — arrive before 10 am to secure a good spot. The viewpoint above Kata Noi offers one of Phuket's best coastal panoramas.
Kamala Beach
A long, relatively quiet beach north of Patong popular with expats and long-stay visitors. Better for swimming than Patong in the wet season.
The northern end near the headland is the quietest section with cleaner sand.
Surin Beach
Phuket's upmarket beach — home to beach clubs and luxury hotels, with a cleaner stretch of sand and a more sophisticated crowd.
Beachfront sunbeds at the clubs can be expensive (500–1,000 THB per day). The free public section at the south end is equally pleasant.
Freedom Beach
An access-only-by-boat cove just south of Patong — crystal water, white sand, and a fraction of the crowds. One of Phuket's hidden gems.
Longtail boats depart from Patong beach (~200 THB return). Go on a weekday morning for the best experience.
Nai Harn Beach
A large, sheltered beach in Phuket's southern tip surrounded by hills and a lagoon. Popular with locals and less developed than the west coast.
The adjacent Windmill Viewpoint is Phuket's best sunset spot — walk up from the beach car park.
