Best Hotels in Krabi

Krabi Town serves as the transport hub but most visitors head straight to Ao Nang, Railay, or the offshore islands. Ao Nang is the main beach resort area — convenient for day trips to islands but not Krabi's most beautiful beach. Railay is only accessible by boat and rewards those willing to make the journey with limestone cliff scenery and relative seclusion. Koh Lanta is covered separately.

Where to Stay in Krabi

Ao Nang

฿700–15,000/night

Best for: Convenience, day trips, wide range of hotels

Main beach resort area, 20 minutes from Krabi Town. Range of accommodation from budget guesthouses to upscale resorts. Busy beachfront promenade. Jump-off point for Koh Phi Phi, Railay, and the Four Islands.

Railay Beach

฿1,500–18,000/night

Best for: Rock climbing, seclusion, stunning scenery

Accessible only by longtail boat from Ao Nang (10–15 minutes). Cut off by karst cliffs. Two beaches: Railay East (muddy low tide, budget accommodation) and Railay West (beautiful white sand). World-class rock climbing.

Klong Muang / Tubkaek

฿4,000–30,000/night

Best for: Luxury resorts, seclusion, sea views

Quiet beaches north of Ao Nang. Home to some of Krabi's top luxury properties. Dramatic limestone island views. Not walkable to anything — you need a car or resort transport.

Krabi Town

฿400–2,500/night

Best for: Budget, local experience, transit base

More local feel than the beach areas. Ferry pier for Koh Lanta. Good night market and local restaurants. Practical base for budget travellers or those passing through.

Booking Tips for Krabi

  • 1

Railay is the highlight of Krabi — budget at least one night there. The journey by longtail boat from Ao Nang takes 10–15 minutes and runs until around 11pm.

  • 2

The high season (November–April) and low season (May–October) make a significant difference in sea conditions. Longtail boats to Railay can be cancelled in rough weather.

  • 3

Krabi's signature rock climbing is world-class. Tonsai Beach (next to Railay) is the climbing hub and has a separate community of budget bungalows popular with climbers.
