Best Hotels in Koh Lanta

Koh Lanta Yai is a long, thin island off the Krabi coast — quieter and less developed than Koh Samui or Phuket, with a more relaxed, backpacker-meets-boutique vibe. The west coast has a series of beaches from north to south: Long Beach (Klong Dao) is the most developed; Klong Nin and Kantiang Bay grow progressively quieter and more scenic. The south tip is wild and mangrove-fringed.

Where to Stay in Koh Lanta

Klong Dao (Long Beach)

฿600–12,000/night

Best for: Families, wide choice of accommodation, first-time visitors

The longest and most developed beach on Lanta. Shallow, calm water ideal for families. Good range of accommodation from budget to midrange. Closest beach to the main ferry pier.

Klong Nin

฿700–8,000/night

Best for: Bohemian atmosphere, indie cafes, yoga

Mid-island beach with a relaxed, slightly hippie vibe. Good for those who want independence from big resort facilities. Some of the island's best small restaurants.

Kantiang Bay

฿2,000–20,000/night

Best for: Seclusion, luxury, scenery

South coast bay with dramatic hillsides and calm water. The setting is one of the most beautiful on the island. Fewer options — mostly boutique and resort stays.

Old Town (Lanta Old Town / Ban Saladan)

฿400–2,500/night

Best for: Culture, local food, transit

Lanta Old Town (near the south ferry pier) is a charming old stilted town over the water. Ban Saladan is the main ferry and entry point. Both have some budget accommodation.

Booking Tips for Koh Lanta

  • 1

Koh Lanta is best visited November to April — the west coast beaches can be rough and some resorts close from May to October (low season).

  • 2

Scooter hire (฿200–300/day) is essential for exploring the island. The west coast road from Ban Saladan to Kantiang Bay is scenic and takes about 45 minutes.

  • 3

Koh Lanta National Park at the south tip is worth a visit — mangroves, viewpoints, and beaches accessible by kayak or jungle walk.
