Booking Tips for Ayutthaya
- 1
Rent a bicycle from your guesthouse for ฿50–฿100/day — the historic island is perfectly sized for cycling and you can reach all major ruins within 20 minutes.
- 2
Arrive early at Wat Mahathat (the famous Buddha head in tree roots) to avoid crowds — before 8am is ideal and the morning light is better for photography.
- 3
The boat tour around the island (departing from the pier near Phom Phet Fortress) gives a different perspective on the ruins and takes about 90 minutes.
