Pak Khlong Talat (the Flower Market) is one of Bangkok's most photogenic and atmospheric experiences — a wholesale fresh flower market that runs 24 hours a day, seven days a week, in the old city district near Memorial Bridge. The market is at its most spectacular between midnight and 5am, when fresh-cut flower deliveries arrive from farms across Thailand and traders create enormous floral arrangements under fluorescent lights. Orchids (Thailand is the world's largest orchid exporter), jasmine, marigold garlands (malai) for Buddhist offerings, roses, lotus flowers, and tropical blooms fill the stalls in vibrant colour. The surrounding streets also sell: flower garlands for temple offerings (฿20–50 each), fresh herbs and vegetables (the adjacent vegetable market is equally impressive), and ornamental plants. Photography tips: come at 2–4am for the most atmospheric shots without crowds; the colourful vendor aprons and bucket-filled foregrounds make compelling street photography. Practical: located near Tha Saphan Phut pier on the Chao Phraya, take the river ferry or Grab. Avoid weekend mornings when Thai families buy flowers and the market gets genuinely crowded. Budget ฿200–500 if you want to buy flowers or garlands to take to a temple the following morning.
