Chiang Mai was arguably the original Southeast Asian digital nomad hub — it topped nomad destination rankings for years due to its combination of low cost, high-speed internet, and outstanding café culture. The co-working scene is now mature and diverse. CAMP (Multiple locations) is unique — a network of coffee shops inside Maya and other malls that allow unlimited laptop working with a single drink purchase. They installed dedicated laptop power points throughout, creating a de facto free co-working environment beloved by budget nomads. MANA (Canal Road) is Chiang Mai's most design-forward dedicated co-working space — high-quality equipment, good events, strong community. Warm Up Co-Work (Nimman area) benefits from being in Chiang Mai's creative/café district — surrounded by excellent coffee shops and restaurants. Punspace (Nimman and Tha Phae locations) has been running since 2012 and remains one of Chiang Mai's most established spaces with good facilities and a community of long-term nomads. Daily rates: ฿200–350. Monthly: ฿1,500–4,000 for hot desks. Chiang Mai's biggest co-working advantage over Bangkok: cost. A monthly co-working desk here costs 40–60% less than Bangkok equivalents. The concentration of digital nomads also creates an unusually strong networking environment — bumping into interesting people in any Chiang Mai café is a daily occurrence. Nimman Road area has the highest density of working-friendly cafés and co-working spaces within walking distance.
