As a predominantly Muslim community, visitors should dress modestly when in the village (cover shoulders and knees). Alcohol is not sold widely — bring supplies from Phuket if needed. During monsoon season (May–October), ferries can be cancelled with little notice; check weather forecasts carefully. Motorbike riding without a helmet is common but not advisable — helmets are available from rental shops. The biggest real risks are motorbike accidents and petty theft — not violent crime.
