About Udon Thani Province
Udon Thani is one of Isaan's largest cities and the main commercial gateway to the upper northeast, with a busy airport, strong road links, and a sizeable expatriate community. The province's headline attraction is Ban Chiang, a UNESCO World Heritage archaeological site whose painted pottery and bronze tools reshaped understanding of prehistoric Southeast Asia. Between November and February, the Red Lotus Sea at Nong Han Kumphawapi blooms with millions of pink water lilies that draw early-morning boat tours.
