About Kanchanaburi Province
Kanchanaburi spreads west from the central plains into mountainous forest along the Myanmar border, combining wartime history with some of Thailand's most accessible national-park scenery. The provincial town is built around the Bridge over the River Kwai, part of the Thailand-Burma Death Railway constructed by Allied POWs and Asian labourers during World War II. Inland, Erawan National Park's seven-tiered turquoise waterfall is one of the country's most photographed natural sights.
